PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: BRYCEN XANDER BOOTHE

Brycen Xander Boothe answers questions about being a Soccer Youth player

This week’s Player Spotlight features Brycen Xander Boothe, a 2011 boy from Waterbury, Connecticut. He started playing soccer at 5 years old and attended his first Soccer Youth event in 2019 at Panama City Beach, Soccer Youth’s inaugural event. The 11-year-old has attended three Soccer Youth events since then. He plays Left Wing for NYCFC Academy.

SY: What is one of your favorite things about Soccer Youth?

B: “I would say that my favorite thing would be making new friends from different places but also competing against those new friends.”

SY: Who are some of the people you have met from Soccer Youth?

B: “I met someone who I’ve played against before. I’m from Connecticut and play in New York. He plays in New York and lives there, too, so we never got a chance to talk except when we play against each other. We talked before Soccer Youth a couple of times, but never became close. After meeting him at Soccer Youth we became friends. There are three other friends that I’ve made in the same way.”

SY: Can you name one thing that you have improved at or learned from Soccer Youth?

B: “My parents say that they have seen my leadership skills improve since Soccer Youth. I was on the team that won the Golden Cup and afterwards my mom said that she had never seen me on the field leading my teammates in that way before. I’ve been trying to do that since then.”

SY: What are your goals in your soccer career?

B: “I want to play professional soccer or futsal. That’s my dream. Right now, I just want to play well for scouts. I don’t always know when they’re watching so if I play well all the time then I can get scouted for the Youth National Team.”

Soccer Youth is thrilled that Brycen has been able to participate in events in the past and hope that he can join this summer at one of our eighteen locations across the country and Canada!
